Springfield to Host Dixie Youth State Baseball Tournament

SPRINGFIELD, Tenn. – The Springfield Parks & Recreation Department is excited to host 20 baseball teams and their fans including Springfield’s own 12U All-Star team, as part of the Dixie Youth Baseball (DYB) 12U Ozone State Tournament.

The tournament will be held July 13-17 at J. Travis Price Park. Opening ceremonies will be held on July 13 at The Center (401 N Main St. Springfield, TN) at 11:00 a.m. The cost of admission will be $8.00 for adults and $5.00 for kids. Concessions will be available throughout the tournament.

DYB is a volunteer led organization that provides community baseball opportunities within the southeast. Learn more about DYB and the tournament online.

“This tournament is a great opportunity for both our players and community,” said Seth Owen, Springfield Parks & Recreation Programmer. “We are excited to welcome these teams to Springfield and thankful to be selected as the tournament host.”

With hundreds of players coming to town, Springfield’s tourism coordinator Ace Timmermeier expects it to be a busy time. “Hosting a state-wide tournament brings players, coaches, and families to our city to stay in our hotels and short-term rentals, eat in our restaurants, and shop with our merchants,” said Ace Timmermeier. “We’ve developed a free mobile app, called WishTrip, to communicate with our visitors and drive them into our local businesses ensuring that they are clued in on all there is to do and see in Springfield, TN.”

Businesses are encouraged to display messages on marquee signs to welcome teams and attendees to Springfield. For more information, visit the city’s website (www.springfieldtn.gov), follow us on Facebook, or receive local news and emergency alerts instantly by texting “Join Springfield” to 30890.
