Strength Through Adversity: Bath Fitter Hurricane Relief Project

In the wake of the horrific destruction caused by Hurricanes Helene and Milton, the team at Bath Fitter Manufacturing of Springfield wasted no time rolling up its sleeves and getting to work on the Bath Fitter Hurricane Relief Project.

“We hit the ground running Friday (October 7) so we could have the site ready to go Monday morning,” said Bonnie Stevens, Plant Administrative Assistant. “The senior team and I immediately got together to plan the logistics and get the word out. We were going to make this happen; it’s just the right thing to do.”

The team reached out to the Robertson County Chamber of Commerce as well as Stay Positive News to spread the word that Bath Fitter’s rear receiving area would be set up as a donation drop-off site. The team then set up one of its trailers as well as several large containers in which people could leave their donations. Volunteers from both Bath Fitter and Airtech worked in shifts to ensure someone was available to assist donors anytime during business hours.

This is not the first time Bath Fitter has hosted a disaster-relief donation site. The team also leapt into action after tornados ripped through Springfield just last December. “We remember how devastating it was when those tornados came through last year,” said Plant Director Jason Otts. “We wanted to put together a donation site so we could help give back to others going through a similar experience. I can’t even begin to say how proud I am of our people, as well as the people of Robertson County – no hesitation, just ‘what do we need to do’?”

Throughout the first week-and-a-half of October, many kind community members brought daily necessities such as food, clothing, flashlights, and – most predominately – water. “Our guys loaded thirteen pallets of water onto the truck,” Bonnie Stevens went on to say. “It was amazing to watch. This community is incredible.”

The team at Bath Fitter Manufacturing would like to extend its best wishes to everyone affected by the hurricanes, as well as its sincerest gratitude to all who brought donations to the plant. As Bonnie said, a community banding together to help those in need is indeed incredible.
