Goodlettsville Hopes to Bring “American Pickers” to its Doorstep

While Sumner County is positively abuzz with the exciting news that the History Channel’s “American Pickers” might soon pay us a visit, few can argue that Goodlettsville, with its antique shop-lined streets and generations of collectors, is prime for the picking.

For viewers who may be unfamiliar with the popular reality show, host Mike Wolfe, alongside a variety of cohosts, takes viewers on a veritable treasure hunt throughout the U.S., visiting local antique collectors and negotiating for pieces from their collections. Along the way, stories are shared and history is relived, both through the objects themselves and the collectors who have loved and treasured them throughout the years.

Longtime residents and newly minted neighbors alike hope the allure of history, along with Goodlettsville’s reputation as a hot spot for antiquing, will draw the show to their doorsteps.

As Adele Watts, President of the Goodlettsville Chamber of Commerce, aptly states, “Goodlettsville really is an antique mecca, beginning with the string of antique shops along Main Street and continuing throughout the town, as we have so many generations of collectors living here.”

Throughout its 20 seasons and 382 episodes, American Pickers has captivated audiences with a shared interest in hidden treasures. Since the first episode aired on January 18, 2010, the series has shown no signs that audiences have lost interest in its format, which often involves hitting the back roads far off of the beaten track in the quest for a bit of American history. On the contrary, with the rise in popularity of all things vintage, American Pickers has continued to gain a wider and more diverse audience, who share a fascination with the past.

If you or someone you know has an unusual or extraordinary item in an antique collection, and if the idea of telling your story and sharing that item or collection on national television sounds exciting, American Pickers is looking for leads and would love to hear from you!

Please note that American Pickers only visits private collections, therefore flea markets, stores, auction houses, museums, or any other businesses are not eligible to be “picked.”
