Author's Note: My name is Emilie Mihalick & I'm a student at White House High School. After high school I plan on going to college to someday be a CRNA. I love health science and love helping people even more, so I am super excited to open that next chapter in my life. As of right now, I spend most of my time in color guard. I love my friends and my teammates, and I really do think that practice is one of the best places I can be!
After an incredible marching season with the White House Band of Pride, the White House High School Color Guard moves to bigger and better things in the winter season. After recent events, several members followed their coach into NOVA Independent–an all-age winter guard filled with friends from several different parts of the community.
Presenting their show titled “Beyond the Dreamhouse,” the performers are excited to display their hard work at their first competition on February 1st, 2025. Through an upbeat show covered in pink and all things Barbie, the performers debut their skills in flag, dance, and weapon. All while expressing the joy of life and beauty of uniqueness!
The show is made to prove that you too can be like the iconic doll that generations have grown to love–you can be anything! Even through hardship–a loss of leadership leading to a disbanded varsity guard– the remaining performers are choosing to band together in NOVA Independant. The result is an outstanding show they can’t wait to perform Saturday. This proves that no matter what you face, there will always be light at the end of the tunnel. All clouds have a silver lining, or maybe one that is an iridescent pink! Embrace your inner child and live freely: the possibilities are endless!
