The Robertson County Recovery Center Becomes Licensed Outpatient Program

On February 1, 2024 The Robertson County Recovery Center became a licensed Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP), a huge step for the program since launching in 2023.

Starting on March 5, the IOP will be offered at Robertson County Recovery Center at 2403 Memorial Blvd, Springfield, TN. The program will be three hours a day, three days a week for approximately 16 weeks. They have a capacity for 12 participants who will attend classes led by a Licensed Alcohol and Drug Abuse Counselor in a group setting.

The Intensive Outpatient Program will be open for anyone in the community who wants substance use treatment and is appropriate for an intensive outpatient level of care. They will need to have an assessment done before being admitted to the program.

“We like to call the whole process a 'labor of love,’’’ says Meagan Williamson, Director of Treatment Courts. “It has been years of dreaming, brainstorming, and building relationships with community partners.”

While the Robertson County Recovery Center is a newer agency, The entire Robertson County Recovery Court program has been well established since 2014 and operates under the Tennessee Department of Mental Health and Substance Abuse Services.

Their first established agency was Robertson County Recovery Court, a judicially supervised court docket that reduces correctional costs, improves community safety, and helps support the rehabilitation of individuals battling addiction. In their ten years, they have graduated 130 individuals.

“That number doesn't include the number of families who have been helped by a loved one going through the program, or the number of parents who had previously lost custody of their children and were reunited as a result of going through the program and doing the extensive work that goes into recovery,” Meagan clarifies.

Their second established agency is the Robertson County Mental Health Court, a judicially supervised docket similar to Recovery Court but for individuals involved in the judicial system who have a severe and persistent mental health diagnosis. This program was launched during the summer of 2023.

Both the Robertson County Recovery Court agency and the Robertson County Mental Health Court agency operate out of the Robertson County Office Building at 531 South Brown Street, 3rd Floor, Springfield, TN.

Their latest agency, the Robertson County Recovery Center came to fruition when the Opioid Lawsuit Settlement funds started being released last April, with Robertson County receiving $380,839.01 in 2023 alone.

“We advocated for the use of those funds to start the Robertson County Recovery Center and IOP, and in the future, additional treatment programs such as MRT. We have met over the last year with Mayor Vogle and the Robertson County Budget Committee to work out the details of using those funds to get this project off the ground,” says Meagan.

With the number of recovery treatment services in Robertson County being very low, Meagan and the rest of the team at Robertson County Recovery Court are proud to establish this new program and know there are many in the community who will benefit from it.

“We believe in the power of change and have seen the effects in people's lives, on their faces, in their spirit, their relationships, and their work ethic,” says Meagan. “Anywhere you might look, there will be evidence of the benefits of recovery for the people who take it seriously and really buy in. This is what makes this work meaningful and satisfying and why we continue to work to grow the available recovery resources in Robertson County!”
