Springfield Tourism Receives $30,000 Marketing Grant

SPRINGFIELD, Tenn. – The Tennessee Department of Tourist Development (TDTD) recently awarded a $30,000 matching grant to the City of Springfield to assist in its tourism marketing efforts.

Annually, the TDTD releases a marketing grant opportunity to provide tourism organizations such as destination marketing organizations (DMO), convention and visitor bureaus (CVB), chambers of commerce or regional tourism organizations a way to expand their marketing message. The partnership is designed to increase visitation to the community and increase travel-generated revenue. This is the second grant of its kind the city has been awarded by the TDTD, the first of which was awarded in 2022 and was utilized to support development of the city’s new destination brand identity – Welcome to Springfield, Real Tennessee.

The funds received this year will be used to further develop the tourism website and visitor mobile application, increase photography and videography assets, and purchase print, digital and billboard advertising to reach visitors in a 150+ mile radius.

“We are grateful to the TDTD for their continued investment in our efforts to grow Springfield’s new tourism brand. Funding like this helps tell the story of why Springfield is a great place to visit and helps expand our reach,” said Ace Timmermeier, Tourism Coordinator for the City of Springfield.

According to the recently released 2022 Economic Impact of Travel report by the State of Tennessee, Tennessee ranks 11th in the nation for visitor spending. Statewide, Tennessee tourism generated $29 billion in direct visitor spending and saw 141 million visitors to the state in 2022. Tax dollars generated by tourism support important public services like education, health, and safety. Tourism is REAL money for our community.
