Springfield Police Department Accepting Applications for Citizens Police Academy

The City of Springfield Police Department is now accepting applications for the Citizens Police Academy set to kick off on September 12.

The free, nine-week program will be held on Thursdays from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at the Springfield Police Department, 802 Willow Street.

The Citizens Police Academy provides individuals who live, work, or attend school in Springfield the opportunity to learn first-hand what officers do to protect and serve our city. Participants will engage in hands-on training, educational tours, and more.

"The Citizens Police Academy fosters lasting, positive connections with the community we are dedicated to serve," stated Police Chief Jason Head. "Come alongside us to gain an insider’s view and experience the daily operations of Springfield’s law enforcement officers. Based on the positive feedback from past participants, I can promise you that this opportunity to step behind the crime scene tape will exceed your expectations!"

To apply, complete the application online at springfieldtn.gov/police or print and return it to the Springfield Police Department by August 30, 2024.
