Just in time for Breast Cancer Awareness Month, Highpoint Health Imaging for Women with Ascension Saint Thomas happily announces the incorporation of a new sensory suite to its comprehensive women’s imaging services. This latest addition is designed to enhance the patient’s ability to relax and get comfortable during 3D mammograms, a crucial screening tool for early breast cancer detection.

The sensory suite allows patients to personalize their mammography experience, providing a calm and soothing environment during what can often be an uncomfortable screening. While receiving their 3D mammogram, patients can view a variety of calming scenes, including a beach scene, forest scene and more, which are displayed on two large screens. Sounds in the room are paired with the scene the patient is seeing. For example, waves and seagulls for the beach, or wind rustling through a field of flowers. For an additional layer of comfort, the suite features aromatherapy with gentle, calming scents designed to create a more soothing atmosphere.

The room has been thoughtfully designed with cool-toned wall colors and a privacy curtain, ensuring a peaceful and secure environment during the appointment. This unique combination of sensory elements is intended to reduce anxiety and enhance the overall patient experience.
