As October days grow shorter our communities grow a tad pinker. Football players don pink socks, or arm bands. Restaurants splash pink ribbons on chalkboard menus. Walkers and racers hit the pavement on misty Saturday mornings, sweating under pink headbands. All to raise awareness, to raise funds, to raise hope for those fighting Breast Cancer.
Our local North Nashville hospitals are adding to the commemorative environment. You’ve no doubt seen a flier or two from your neighborhood Imaging Center. Sumner Station is adding a bit of Halloween fun as they prep for a finale event to their month-long focus on Breast Cancer Awareness. Scare Away Breast Cancer takes place at the Big Station Camp location today, Tuesday October 29th from 4-7 pm. Sumner Station Imaging Center will be open to families who want a spot to enjoy free, fun activities, including a spooky candy trail and light refreshments. Special self pay rates will be available for those needing their annual mammogram, walk-ins are welcome. Vendors will also be on site offering swag and free services--all in the spirit of putting the boo to breast cancer.
To assist women in understanding what a mammogram is and what to expect Brittany Jeffiers, Medical Imaging Supervisor at Highpoint Health Sumner Station Imaging, put together this helpful information:
Together, let’s ghost breast cancer.
