On April 16, 2024 Governor Bill Lee signed into effect House Joint Resolution 803. The 113th General Assembly in both Houses of the State of Tennessee adopted HJR 803, calling for “a time of fasting and prayer during the month of July.”
Citing John Adams’ April 1799 proclamation, this resolution is rooted in asking for “help from the Most High God”. The document lists 29 Representatives and 12 Senators as sponsors. It calls on citizens to “seek God’s hand of mercy healing on Tennessee” in such specific areas as human trafficking, drugs, addiction, violence, and government corruption.
Events are happening throughout the state, pronouncing an “amen” to the resolution.
The Robertson County Historic Courthouse will host one such event on Friday, July 26th at 11:30 AM. Robertson County event organizers encourage anyone interested to arrive half an hour earlier to pray for the event itself. Their hope is to have 250 or more attendees. County Mayor Billy Vogel and Springfield Mayor Ann Williams will be present to share their thoughts and welcome the visiting representatives.
Sumner County will also host an event on Friday, July 26th. It will be held at 355 N Belvedere Drive and begin promptly at 2pm.
