Payne Chevrolet Carries on Trucks and Treats Tradition

On Saturday, October 28, Payne Chevrolet held its seventh annual Trucks and Treats event, free and open to the public.

It’s estimated over one thousand children attended the event, escorted by their parents and guardians, to mark another successful, safe, and fun evening for the city of Springfield, TN.

Starting back in 2016 and occurring each year except for during the 2020 COVID pandemic, the Payne family has opened up its car lot and invited local vendors and organizations to decorate trucks and pass out candy.

This year’s vendor line up of over 25 vendors included Springfield EMS, Springfield Fire Department, Springfield Police Department, and many others, including Sydnor Boys BBQ, who returned again this year to sell delicious barbeque from their food trailer.

Many vendors return year after year, including Springfield Primary Eye Care who has been participating for three years.

“This fun event is an awesome way to bring together various groups from the community to show support and Halloween cheer for kids of all ages,” says Jana Socey of Springfield Primary Eye Care. “We always have a blast being creative, decorating the trucks, and seeing the costumes of the kids and adults who come through.”

The event kicked off at 5 pm, but the crowd began gathering around 4:30 pm and was a steady stream until the end of the event at 7 pm. The treaters made their way through Payne Chevrolet’s car lot and inside of their service center traveling from booth to booth and collecting many goodies along the way.

“We always enjoy having everybody come out. It’s fun to see all the kids and families dressed up and enjoying themselves. It’s also nice to see all the organizations come out to support and participate,” says Payne Chevrolet owner, Alex Payne.

This annual event benefits many with free candy, free publicity, and an unforgettable experience. Payne Chevrolet has done an outstanding job creating a tradition that makes Halloween in Springfield extra special.
