Miss Rocky Top Hosts 2nd Annual Leadership Camp for Children

Presly Pedigo, Miss Rocky Top of 2023, has a heart for instilling leadership skills in young children. For the second year in a row, she has planned Camp Inspire to be held on June 17 at White House Municipal Park, open for children aged 4-12.

The camp runs from 9 to 11 am and is completely free of charge. It is designed to help children develop leadership skills and a love for serving, and they teach different ways to get involved through volunteering and discovering their passions. Sure to effectively reach the young attenders, the camp is hands on and full of activities.

Presly, who grew up in White House, wanted to give back to the community that impacted her so much. Through some research, she identified the need for more leadership development, and thus the idea for Camp Inspire was first developed in 2022. “I have always had a big heart for service, and I feel like there is no sense of community in social media today. Therefore, I wanted to create a way for young kids to be able to assert themselves in their own community and learn skills like leadership and giving back to their own community.”

Last year’s camp was such a big hit, that Presly wanted to make sure this year’s was even better. There might be a few surprise guests in attendance, and if all goes well, they will continue the tradition next year. Even though the camp is just a few days away, you can still register your child using the QR code on the flier below.

This leadership camp is not the only thing Miss Rocky Top has initiated. She is also known for creating Go Inspire Day, adopted on March 23, 2023, by the Tennessee Senate, now recognized each year on April 6. She announced this resolution on Facebook, “This day serves as encouragement to the youth of Tennessee to get out, find their passion, and make a difference by serving their community! A big thank you to Senator Kerry Roberts and his team for all their support and help throughout this process. I can’t wait to continue inspiring others across the Volunteer state and the nation!” she said.

Presly intends to organize a big celebration for next year’s Go Inspire Day.

In her short reign, Miss Rocky Top has made such a positive impact within the state. She just completed her Bachelor’s Degree in Neuroscience at The University of Tennessee at Knoxville with a minor in Psychology and is hoping to go to PA school.
