Okay, here we go. Focus. Speed. I am speed. One winner, 42 losers. I eat losers for breakfast. Breakfast? Maybe I should have had breakfast? Brekkie could be good for me. No, no, no, focus. Speed. Faster than fast, quicker than quick. I am Lightning. - Lightning McQueen
Every parent looks for ways to bond with their children as they get older, but one Hendersonville family has found a VERY unique way to stay connected.
This summer, Rebecca Goddard and her two sons, Jackson and Franklin, set off on a journey that most little boys only dream of – to own a racecar. But not just any race car, we’re talking about the seven-time Piston Cup winner Lighting McQueen!
The Kachow Bros. are now taking the area by storm, popping up all over for photo opportunities and other celebrity encounter experiences.
Rebecca says the idea was born out of a way to not only have fun but also to teach her boys some necessary life skills.
“Both boys are on the autism spectrum,” says Rebecca. “I thought this would be a fun way to open conversations and be a confidence builder.”
Jackson, a sophomore at Beech High School, is in charge of the businesses’ social media and his older brother, Franklin, helps keep the car detailed and looking like a very famous racecar.
“My mom works hard and I like helping her get the car ready to do an event,” says Jackson. “Driving McQueen around gets a lot of attention from everyone, and it makes people smile.”
Even though the car gets loads of attention everywhere they go, Jackson recalls one time that was extra special for him.
“We saw my friends driving and they were surprised it was my car; they got out of their car on the road and celebrated me,” says Jackson. “I liked that.”
Jackson plans to attend Lipscomb University after graduation but in the short term just wants to live out a dream.
“Hopefully, my mom will let me drive the car someday.” he chuckles.
