Highpoint Health Announces Lung Cancer Screening Day Events on November 9

In honor of Lung Cancer Awareness Month, Highpoint Health encourages current and former smokers who meet the eligibility criteria to prioritize their health by getting a low-dose lung CT (LDCT) screening. Early detection is key in identifying lung cancer in its initial stages, which can greatly improve treatment outcomes. For those at higher risk, such as current or former smokers, a LDCT scan can help detect lung abnormalities before symptoms arise.

Event Locations and Hours:

  • Highpoint Health – Riverview: 9:00 am – 5:00 pm
  • Highpoint Health – Trousdale: 9:00 am – 5:00 pm
  • Highpoint Health – Sumner: 7:30 am – 12:00 pm

Screening Eligibility Requirements:

  • Between the ages of 50 and 77 (Medicare covers up to 77 years of age, but private insurance may cover up to 80 years of age)
  • Have a smoking history of 20 pack years (1 pack per day for 20 years or two packs per day for 10 years), and
  • Currently smoke or have quit smoking within the last 15 years

Is Screening Covered By My Insurance?
Medicare now covers the cost of LDCT screening for high risk patients. Many private health insurers provide coverage as well. Your physician will give you more specific details about eligibility and costs during your consultation. Highpoint Health facilities offer LDCT scans at a reduced self-pay rate of $99 if you do not meet criteria or do not have health coverage. This flat rate includes the Radiologist reading.

A referral from your primary care provider is required to schedule an appointment. Find a provider today at HighpointHealthSystem.com/Find-A-Doc. For more details visit HighpointHealthSystem.com/Lung.
