Family-Owned and Community Oriented: Airtech Brings Unique Employment Opportunities to Robertson County

Did you know the world’s largest provider of materials for vacuum bagging and composite tooling is located right in the heart of Springfield, Tennessee?

Airtech manufactures products used to create anything that has to fly, float, drive fast, or produce energy, operating from seven locations around the world. Their Tennessee facility was established in 2015 and has been identified within the company as their primary growth facility in the United States.

“Due to the development of the Boeing 787 Dreamliner program, much of the aerospace industry expanded into the Southeast and our customers wanted us to be closer to them. Nashville was identified as a perfect location for us to be a day away from much of our customer base in the Southeast, Midwest, and Northeast,” says Springfield’s Plant Manager, James Wade.

Although an international company, Airtech remains a family-owned and operated business. The founder of Airtech, Bill Dahlgren, is still involved in the day-to-day operations of the company he founded back in 1973. Jeff Dahlgren, Bill’s son, is the current President/CEO, and Bill’s daughter, grandson, and granddaughters are all involved in the company as well.

Because the company is family operated, they have a unique culture internally referred to as “Family Values,” and part of that is being community oriented.

“We have found Springfield and Robertson County to be a welcoming community,” says James. “We find this important for facilitating an environment that our employees will be comfortable living and working in. The owners of Airtech have found this to be so refreshing that we’ve jumped in with both feet in supporting community events and local non-profits. As a small business, we’re all about supporting local.”

As loyal members of several local Chambers of Commerce, supporters of Stay Positive News, and sponsors of many community events around the Springfield area, Airtech certainly is hands on within the community, which also plays a critical role in attracting local talent.

“Our two most important slogans are ‘We hire you to retire you’ and ‘We invest in you, you invest in you.’ These two slogans really do guide our approach to ensuring that everyone can achieve the growth they want,” explains James.

Airtech understands that attracting and retaining quality employees takes a lot more than just a steady wage. They have many programs in place to make their employees feel valued. They frequently host employee luncheons and fun events outside of work hours such as, ‘Shoot with the Prez’ dinners at a local sporting clays club and their annual Nashville Grand Prix, just to name a couple.

“We have employees who have been with Airtech for more than 40 years across the organizational chart,” explains James. “We invest in our employees and their careers by providing the training needed for them to succeed, and we like to see our employees grow with the company and place a priority on promoting from within.”

To further support their “We hire you to retire you” slogan, Airtech benefits are structured to encourage a lifelong career with the company through an unheard of longevity and retirement program.

Well respected by key aerospace, automotive, and wind energy companies around the world, Airtech is the best in its class, and their presence in Springfield brings many exciting opportunities for our local community.
