Alright now, fellas-say it with me- what’s cooler than being cool?
ICE COLD!
(If you know the lyrics to that song, it's time to send in your donation to the White House Area Chamber.)
A group of local men recently took part in the Cold Water Plunge, chilling in ice cold water for a good cause. They spent up to ten minutes submerged in a tub of 40 degree water, raising money by way of sponsorships for their frosty dip.
All the proceeds from the Cold Water Plunge benefited the upcoming #NoFilter Girl’s Summit to be held June 23 in White House.
The participants: Matt Stewart, Jamie Nixon, Jon McAllister, Karl Hawes, Donnie Eden and Tal Plumlee have collected around $1,500 so far, with several thousand dollars more in pledges to be turned in.
White House Police Chief Patrick Brady was also part of the plunge party along with his stepson-to-be, Bryson, a title which he officially gained after proposing to Bryson’s mom, Sara, immediately following their time in the tubs.
The #NoFilter Girl’s Summit, sponsored by the White House Police Department S.P.E.A.R.E. Program and White House Area Chamber of Commerce’s Education Initiative, is a day-long event for rising 5-9th grade girls.
The event teaches the young ladies the importance of self worth over “selfies.” The girls will spend the day engaged in various workshops focused on health and wellness, self-defense, creativity, social media safety, and self-esteem.
To register for #NoFilter Girl’s Summit, follow the link below before June 5. The fee of $30 covers the day of activities, lunch, a T-shirt and swag bag. Financial assistance is available upon request.
