Stories connect us.
Familiar threads reach beyond the words and wrap around our hearts.
That’s how stories become impactful.
One of the first stories I covered for Stay Positive News was about a non-profit organization called His Children Foundation. Jessica and Tyler Brown are Sumner County residents living their calling to support kids and foster families. They do so by providing duffel bags and supplies, Christmas gifts, and special events to the foster community. These tangibles make the intangible—feelings of belonging, of personal worth, and something familiar—possible.
Since His Children Foundation’s inception in 2021, they have filled and delivered 514 bags to kids in the foster care system. They’ve provided 20 outings for group homes, such as taking the kids to the movies, the zoo, museums, and trampoline parks. They have provided 340 kids with gifts under their Christmas trees, as well as serving multiple individual foster families with clothing, formula, and other essentials. Most recently, His Children hosted an event at Bottom View Farms where all the local foster families could enjoy a fun day together.
Community support—businesses and individuals donating resources and volunteer hours—completely fuels this foundation. “We are 100% run on donor funding.” Jessica says, “We don’t qualify for government assistance or grants because of our faith. We hardly qualify for general grants because we believe it’s our mission to spread the Good News to children in the most hopeless of situations.”
His Children’s only fundraiser happens next month on August 10th at the Bluegrass Yacht Club. As of today, there are 40 seats left to be filled. “One ticket is enough to provide a duffle bag for a child in foster care,” Jessica says. “It also provides a fantastic meal catered by Bluegrass Country Club, carnival games, popcorn, sweet refreshments, and a LIVE auction!”
Does their story wrap around your heart? Why not scan the QR code and buy a ticket or ten for Cirque of Hope? By doing so you are helping do what Jessica calls, “planting seeds of faith in the foster care system.”
