Cedar Hill has a population of around 300 residents who all have a strong vein of community pride. Their numbers don’t intimidate them nor prevent them from creating beautiful and purposeful spaces within their community in the interest of all.
Thus, a multiple year playground upgrade project is currently underway, and phase one was completed this summer by adding five new play elements, a basketball court, and a walking track.
“We were very intentional about what we chose to add,” said Cedar Hill Mayor, John Edwards. “We wanted to have something for all ages, even toddler equipment.”
The funding for the project is supported by the city’s general fund with cost matching assistance from Gametime Equipment.
“We’re trying to invest in our community with things for families to do that get them out of the house and also bring them out to the country to experience the rural side of Robertson County,” continued Mayor Edwards.
All of the equipment added has components to assist special needs children, but phase two of the project will include other upgrades to further accommodate those with disabilities.
“We love it, and we’re proud of it,” said Mayor Edwards. “The great thing about being a small town is that we can really be attuned to our community's needs and work to meet them.”
The park is located at 209 S. Main Street. The community of Cedar Hill encourages everyone to come spend some time playing and enjoying the new additions. Check out the video they made highlighting the process here.
